Granola bars are a great snack. But did you know store-bought versions aren’t so healthy? Well, I’m here to share healthy granola bars that you can feel good about eating.
Typical granola bars sold on grocery store shelves contain sugars like high fructose corn syrup, inflammatory oils like canola or safflower, and artificial flavorings. This is where you really have to read the labels! You might see a granola bar on the store shelf and think, “oh this is healthy, I’ll get this to have for snacks this week” without looking at the label. It won’t do your body any good!
I created healthy granola bars that you can make at home in less than 10 minutes. It’s not only healthy, but it’s delicious too. And the best part is, you can customize the recipe to your liking.
Check out my video where I show you how to make them!
- 1 cup packed dates, pitted
- ¼ cup pure maple syrup
- 2 Tbsp. warm water
- 1½ cups gluten-free rolled oats
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- ½ cup dried blueberries
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- In a food processor, process the dates, maple syrup, and warm water until it forms a paste-like consistency.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, pecans, blueberries, and cinnamon. Mix together.
- Add in the date paste mixture and mix until the paste is evenly incorporated throughout the oat mixture.
- Grab a 8x8 baking dish and line in with parchment paper for easy removal.
- Pour the mixture into the baking dish and press down until you get a smooth, flat layer. Press the mixture down firmly to pack in it tight - this will help the granola bars stay together.
- Put the baking dish into the freezer for 20-30 minutes until it sets.
- Remove the dish from the freezer and remove the granola. Cut until 10 bars or 15 small squares.
- Wrap each bar or square individually in parchment paper and store in the freezer or refrigerator.
With joy and health,
