Most Americans struggle with their digestion. Health begins in the gut, so the sooner you get your digestion in order, the closer you are to achieving vibrant health. Below is my tried and tested protocol to optimize digestion. A happy gut is a healthy body!
- Drink warm water with lemon juice upon waking
- Take a digestive enzyme before meals
- Utilize apple cider vinegar (1 Tbsp ~15 minutes before meals)
- Minimize or eliminate processed dairy products
- Eat probiotic-rich foods or take a probiotic supplement
- Drink more water (34 oz. per 50 lbs. of body weight)
- Incorporate MagO7 into your supplement regimen
- Have 2 servings of dark leafy greens everyday (kale, spinach, collard greens, Swiss chard, arugula)
- Drink ¼ cup of pure Aloe Vera juice every morning or after meals
- Eliminate any food sensitivities or intolerances
- Use Castor Oil Pack (see below) when needed
Digestive health is the center of the immune system. All disease originates in the gut so if we take care of our digestion, we will be able to ward off sickness and disease. With perfect digestion, you should be eliminating 2-3 times daily and the passing of stools should be easy and comfortable. Once you take care of your digestion, you will find a tremendous improvement in your energy levels.
Castor Oil Pack:
Can you recall a time where you ate a little too much and suffered from bloating, cramping, and stomach ache? Castor oil packs are a very effective way to relieve that “I ate too much” feeling after a large meal. It’s simple, inexpensive, and most of all, it works!
What you need:
- Castor oil
- Heating pad or hot water bottle
- Saran wrap
- Paper towels or bath towel
What you do:
- Turn on the heating pad to HIGH or put hot water in hot water bottle.
- Put about a quarter sized amount of castor oil in your palm.
- Rub the oil in your hands to warm it up.
- Put the warm oil on your abdomen starting below the breast line and all the way down to the hipbone area.
- Massage oil into abdomen to cover all areas.
- Dry off your hands and grab a sheet of saran wrap to reach from one side of your abdomen to the other to cover oiled areas.
- Place 2 additional pieces of saran wrap over your entire abdomen.
- Wear an old t-shirt as castor oil can stain clothes.
- Lay down flat on your back and place the heating pad or hot water bottle on your abdomen.
- Place a blanket or sheet over your body to trap the heat in.
- Lay with castor oil pack on for 30-45 minutes.
- Wipe skin dry when finished.
Note: this can get a bit messy so be sure to have paper towels or towels on hand when using castor oil.
What does it do?
Castor oil, when absorbed through skin, helps metabolism and digestion. Castor oil taken orally is a mild laxative but when used directly on the stomach, will aid in the breaking down of food to ease bloating, cramping, and stomach aches.
* Note: Do not use castor oil packs while pregnant, menstruating, or on children under the age of 13.
