First of all, what is a probiotic?
Simply put, probiotics are live bacteria and yeast that are extremely good for your digestive system, and for your body as a whole. When most people think of bacteria, they think of ‘bad’ bacteria – germs that makes you sick. But probiotics are just the opposite. They are ‘good’ bacteria that help to keep your gut balanced and your body healthy.
Probiotics are naturally occurring within your body, and are also found in many raw foods. Decades ago, in the era of farming and planting your own food, our bodies were chock-full of probiotics. Fast forward several decades to the era of processed foods and sugar and our bodies are now in short supply, thus breeding the environment for sickness and disease.
What can probiotics do for you?
Probiotics help move food through your digestive system, which is important for two reasons. First of all, when food moves through your digestive system, it is able to fully digest. Often times food is left undigested throughout the digestive tract which can lead to bloating, excess fat around the waistline, and fatigue. And not to mention, waste matter just hanging out in your digestive tract! Nasty. Secondly, it’s important to have probiotics to move food through the digestive system because you aren’t what you eat, but you are what you absorb. If you aren’t properly digesting your food, your body can’t absorb and utilize the nutrients from the food you’re eating. What’s the point of choking down a kale salad if your body can’t absorb the nutrients. Am I right?!
Not only do probiotics help digest your food, but an insufficient amount of probiotics in your body can lead to digestive issues like IBS or IBD, bloating, constipation/diarrhea, skin problems, autoimmune diseases, and frequent bouts of the common cold and/or flu due to a weakened immune system. They are so crucial for gut health! And good gut health = good overall health.
So what about gut health?
Your gut holds both ‘good’ and ‘bad’ bacteria. The bacteria that lives in your gut helps to aid in digestion, absorb nutrients and help your immune system function properly.
Your ‘good’ bacteria:
- Helps to decrease the amount of bad bacteria, fungi and yeast
- Destroys bad bacteria by creating enzymes
- Simulates secretion of T-cells which participate in immune response
There is a delicate balance between ‘good’ bacteria and ‘bad’ bacteria. According to experts, your gut should hold approximately 85% good bacteria and 15% harmful bacteria. If this balance is disturbed, a condition called dysbiosis occurs. This happens when there is a surplus of certain fungi or bacteria, which negatively impacts your body. Probiotics help to restore the balance in your body, keep everything functioning as it should and are an easy and effective way to deliver good bacteria to your body.
In addition to taking probiotics, you can also do your best to avoid the following things that reduce the ‘good’ bacteria that’s already happily living inside your body:
- Antibiotics
- Vaccines
- Sugar & artificial sweeteners
- GMOs
- Alcohol
- Stress
Since some of these things (like stress, obviously) are unavoidable, it’s important to counter them with probiotics.
Where can you get probiotics?
You can find probiotics in fermented foods like homemade kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, and miso, as well as in supplements. Though it’s possible to get probiotics in food, I recommend a high-quality supplement to get the boost your body needs. But not all supplements are created equal.
MegaSporeBiotic
If you are looking for a high-quality probiotic supplement, I recommend MegaSporeBiotic. MegaSporeBiotic contains spores, that when used as probiotics, can offer additional benefits to your body, such as supporting your immune system, eliminating yeast overgrowth, reducing the risk of cardiovascular problems, and lowering cholesterol.
Spores are found naturally in the environment and have been proven to be an effective way to deliver probiotics. They survive the harsh environment of your stomach acid and reach the intestinal tract in tact. Many probiotics don’t make it past the stomach (thus making them ineffective and a waste of money). As soon as the probiotics reach your intestinal tract, the spores activate and start strengthening your immune system and protecting your body. And most importantly, nourishing the gut!
MegaSporeBiotic has been proven to stop the growth of ‘bad’ bacteria, while strengthening the immune system and producing essential nutrients like B-vitamins K12 that your body needs.
Because this is a pharmaceutical grade probiotic, it’s not available at your local health food store or Amazon, but you can purchase it from a licensed health practitioner, aka: me! Contact me if you would like to learn more about how probiotics can improve your health and to order your own bottle of MegaSporeBiotic. You can also apply for a free Start-Up Session with me where we can discuss your current state of health.
Cheers to a happy belly!
With joy and health,
